    AUSTRALIA GETS ITS

FIRST WOMAN

PRIME MINISTER

Prime Minister Julia Gillard
(Reuters) - June 24 Australia appointed its first woman Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, who vowed on Thursday to end division over a controversial mining tax, resurrect a carbon trade scheme and call elections within months.
Former prime minister Kevin Rudd made an emotional and ignominious exit, quitting just before the center-left Labor Party was to dump him in an internal ballot and less than three years after a stunning election victory in 2007.

The Rudd government's dramatic slide in support this year sparked fears within the ruling party of an electoral defeat at a poll expected around October. Read More Here: Watch the live video (Julia Gillard is sworn in as Australia's first female prime minister, after Kevin Rudd was ousted as leader of the Labor party). here

    T V Watchers Beware!!!e

Every hour of Television watching increases your risk of heart disease..ware!!

Couch Potato

Pic. stock.xchng

Washington, DC:June 24 2010. Every hour you put in watching the World Cup on TV, your risk of dying from a heart disease increases by 7%, says a new study.

British researchers have found that if the average of four hours of television a day in the study were reduced to one hour, then 8% of deaths from heart disease could have been prevented.

The link between TV and heart disease was still strong even when lack of exercise, obesity, diet and smoking were taken into account.
This implies that watching TV was independently linked to heart disease and the effect is not simply due to be inactive while watching television.

Conducted by the Medical Research Council, the research, examined more than 13,000 healthy middle-aged men and women in Norfolk.

Over the 10-year study, 373 of the 13,197 participants or one in 35 died from heart disease.
Of these deaths, 30 could have been prevented if the average person watched one hour of television per day instead of four.

“Our bodies are not designed to sit for long periods and we should be aware that, as we put in the TV-hours watching the World Cup, our risk of heart disease is probably increasing,” the Telegraph quoted Dr Katrien  Wijndaele, co-author of the study from the MRC, as saying.  Read More Here

   Good News to Coffee Drinkers:

Drinking Coffee Offers Protection Against Head and Neck Cancer

Coffee with snacks
pic. credit. sxc.hu
Washington, DC June 23 2010: A new study has revealed that drinking coffee offers protection against head and neck cancers.

For the study, scientists used information from a pooled-analysis of nine studies collected by the International Head and Neck Cancer Epidemiology (INHANCE) consortium.

The participants who were regular coffee drinkers, that is, those who drank an estimated four or more cups a day, compared with those who were non-drinkers, had a 39 percent decreased risk of oral cavity and pharynx cancers combined.

Data on decaffeinated coffee was too sparse for detailed analysis, but indicated no increased risk. Tea intake was not associated with head and neck cancer risk.

The association is more reliable among those who are frequent, regular coffee drinkers, consuming more than four cups of coffee a day.

"Since coffee is so widely used and there is a relatively high incidence and low survival rate of these forms of cancers, our results have important public health implications that need to be further addressed," said lead researcher Mia Hashibe, assistant professor in the department of family and preventive medicine at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, and a Huntsman Cancer Institute investigator.  Read More at this link. Read More

News Paper Online Readers Now Pay And Read

Rupert Murdoch
Media baron Rupert Murdoch's News International (NI) has announced that readers will have to pay to access the online content of its two flagship titles, The Times and The Sunday Times, from June. Some papers in the US already charge for such content, but the move has created ripples in the news industry in the UK, where newspaper circulation has been declining for years. Currently, all major newspapers and the BBC News website offer free content.

The world’s largest social network is aiming for 1bn users globally in the next few years, its founder, Mark Zuckerberg, told delegates at the Cannes Lions advertising festival on Wednesday. Russia, China, South Korea and Japan are next in its sights as it pushes its global reach.
But as Facebook aims to move further into Asia, it is still working on building a serious advertising business in the markets where it is more established.   Mr Zuckerberg said it was “out of the experimentation phase” in advertising and was now growing revenues quickly, without having to “push a lot of the growth ourselves”.    Is May 2013 The End of the World?

A News Report from NASA Says:  “Earth and space are coming together in a way that’s new to human history.  A solar storm, which is essentially violent eruptions in the sun, can eject destructive radiation and charged particles into space.”
There are reports of a geomagnetic storm sparked by a huge solar flare that swept over the Earth in 1859. Telegraph wires shorted out and set houses on fire. A brilliant aurora was seen in Hawaii—so bright that  “people could read newspapers by [its] red and green glow.”
Scientists predict  that in May 2013, the sun’s solar cycle will peak at about the same level as
in 1859. (This content courtesy a post on These are closely connected to magnetic fields – which are hazardous for satellites and space stations. Scientists predict  that in May 2013, the sun’s  solar cycle will peak at about the same level asin 1859. (This content courtesy a post onGawker.com)

According to the Global Peace Index.  India has slipped to the 128th position ranking along with Pakistan and Sri Lanks. In 2007 India was ranked at 109th position.

Hi all,

Thanks for the honor to invite me, but I can't accept for two reasons: I am very busy actually and the most important, when I will do the job than you will learn nothing ;-)

Sorry for that...

I hope you understand this, thanks in advance...

My suggestion (Mostly of time I am doing the same also to experiment around):

Make a copy of this knol which you don't publish and take some time to experiment around with different color schemes, based on these links:

http://knol.google.com/k/gust-mees/best-tips-and-tricks-for-creating-a/vdujwtjyx3uq/166# (EN)

Knol Page Views Increasing - Increasing - Increasing

1374 - 1745 - 1789 (Still going up)

The caption is right. Knol on its way to success. Yesterday on twitter there were some messages saying knol is a failed product of google. I said no, Knol is on its way to success because of serious knol writers.

The above page statistics clearly prove that knol is attracting visitors. Authors need to put in more. MAK a coauthor of this knol is having around 15,000 weekly page views. He wrote around 500 knols so far. Can he write more in this year. Yes. Will he get more page views? Yes. Will his page views increase next year? Yes All the best Moharram Khalifa. Author after author has to report higher and higher page views for knol to become a success.

200 page views on the first day

Good going. Keep it up.
Invite more authors. Make it a success.
Give links below to related knols - FIFA News, KAN etc.
Promote news knols

PVA - You are a game changer. Your social media button is the first. This is the second. In this you may not be the first, but could become the first person to make a very successful news knol and accelerate the development of news knols on Knol Platform.

Happy to inform that my page views have further gone up. As the Global Number One EI Author, if I can set a record, there is a lot of scope for authors chasing to catch up and make knol a success.

That is why I said it is a very smart idea for having this Knol. Phil is a brilliant friend..

I will leave adding of FIFA news and KAN for Phil to chose the suitable way to add them with a thumb picture for each Knol

Best,
MAK
