An Alert And A Tuto: My Janauary Installment At IWSG

Greetings to all my friends here at IWSG. 

Every First Wednesday is dedicated to the writers’  especially the to the blog writers' by the well known Sci-Fi  writer cum blogger Alex J. Cavanaugh, the famous Ninja 

Captain and his associates @ IWSG.

Since This January's First Wednesday falls on the New Year Day, this month's IWSG day is shifted to the 8th the second Wednesday.

Before I jot down my take for the month’s installment I must tender an apology for the bit delay happened in submitting the page.  As I was not fully well I could not concentrate on this month's piece.  Due to the giddiness and the related ailments literally I was away from my desktop.  Though I was intermittently using my mobile phone to post few short notes and likes at some of my social networks.  Today I am much better thus this post.

Again before I enter into the original text for the month, I must say a BIG word of thanks to the wonderful team of IWSG under the leadership of Alex J Cavanaugh, for bestowing me the prestigious award for 2013 IWSG contest held on December 4-16  2013.

I wanted to give a caution or alarm to the readers here 

through this post.

We are living in a world of uncertainties, anything can happen to anybody at any time!

There is no doubt that, it is an undisputed fact.

But I wanted to caution you about our hard earned or made contents at the World Wide Web pages.  Suppose if you lose all your contents in a fine morning what will happen!  No doubt that will be a big disaster! 

Did you ever thought of such a situation? If not just imagine one fine morning when you try to open your blog pages its showing a big zero or let me put it this way a big blank page on your computer’s screen.  There are many possibilities to happen this, even while you typing or editing the contents this can happen. 

There are several other ways to lose our valued blog pages, another one is by hacking.  There are a good number of hackers out there in this World Wide Web.  The WWW is no doubt a mixture of good and bad.  The hackers, some do this as a fun and few others purposely do this to spoil other’s reputation and images.  This types of things are happening even in some official web sites of different nations.  So be always ready to face such situation of losing all your content by the act of hackers.

The other day I was just talking about this to one of my blog friends’.  Immediately he said, no worries! before that you can take a precaution.  Why don’t you take the backup of your files in the blogger pages?  

Hey, hey, how I can do that?  I yelled, instantly and he suggested few pages to visit to learn more about this.

This day is dedicated to the writers’ especially the blog writers by the well known Sci-Fi writer cum blogger Alex J. Cavanaugh, the famous Ninja Captain and his associates @ IWSG

Writers from around the world will post their notes about

Their fear, insecurities and other useful suggestions and success stories.

In this installment I would like to mention an important activity many of the bloggers just neglect, that is nothing but the promotion about their write-ups or posts.

"I do not get any visitor or reader though I am a regular writer and I do post solid and useful contents but still no one visits my page, why?"  

This is a common complaint from many of the bloggers especially the beginners!

There is a reason for that, when you write a post and keep quite, how will others know about it, so you need to tell others about it right, these days its very easy to do that, There are a good number of ways to do that, One of the main way to do it tell about your post thru your social web sites, post your blog Url in the social media sites as soon as you upload the post.  

As someone said, if we write something and we do not tell others about it who will read it, only you or your family members or some of your close friends, that's it!

Now there are a good number of social sites available in the World Wide Web, major among them are the facebook, twitter, Google+, linkdin, Digg, stumpleupon etc.. it is really difficult to visit all these pages individually and post our urls there, instead here is a button (web site link) available which you can embed it into your blog posts, please click on the below picture to visit that page, it is very easy to embed this into your blogger or wordpress or any other platforms.  Just click and embed it into your page, that will help your visitors or friends to promote the page into their social sites without leaving your page to visit the social site.  Try this button and place it in your page.  You yourself can promote your page to your social sites by just clicking on the AddToAny button.

Try this today, it will surely boost your readership.

For some of my readers,  the "AddToAny" button may be a new thing, but I am using it from the beginning of my blog writing. This I learned from my Google's Knol pages.   

It's main advantage is that you need not leave the page to promote the post to their social sites,instead you can post it to your social web sites from the post itself.

Blog Followers Your Attention Please!!!

I just missed it last time!

This is the right time.

I was thinking about to bring out a serious point/problem which many of the bloggers face in blog writing. I wanted to share the same with you all in this post. 

Indeed, blogging is no doubt a group effort.  Unless there are people who help each other in blog writing by reading, commenting, sharing and promoting through social sites by posting and discussing about their blogs, no blogs will grow. 

No doubt we have many groups around us to help out in blogging and related activities.  This group “Insecure Writers Support  Group”  itself is an example to this.  Alex started this venture keeping this in mind to help out the bloggers around the world and many joined in and helping each other by solving  different issues.

And HA!!! Now a new site for the IWSG group. I appreciate Alex and his wonderful team for this initiative.

OK, let me come to the point:   We the blog authors quiet often read a good number of posts every day and surely most of us do comment and if like, we join in the blog as followers by pressing the followers button. 


Here is the click, when we join other blog pages, please check back your avatar picture is functioning properly  or not, and is that taking you back to your page.  If it’s not reaching your blog page something is wrong, and you need to fix it.  Otherwise suppose the person wanted to join back to our page he cannot do that because of the non-availability of link there.  So if you use blogger.com as your page please give your blog name, url etc there, so that people can visit your page and say a word of thanks.

These days many are utilizing the Google+ option for posting comments that is a good idea, because if somebody post a comment on your Google+ page it immediately appear in your blog page's comment space too.  But here too there is a problem if you are not giving the contact details there. Unfortunately the newly joined people at Google+ just ignore to post their contact details or their blog or web page URLs there in the "About" page.  Here are some screenshots to show it clearly please check it. 

For example, see the above screenshot of CAROLYN's page, she joined my blog few months back but still I could not reach her blog page. The reason is there is no information about her blog, instead few blogs names are given where she joined. In such situation the visitor may go back without trying to find out your whereabouts.  Of course few may go to their "Post" page and check what they posted there and may try to come back to your page.  This is very rarely takes place since people are so busy with their own activities. 

In such cases the only remedy is to place your contact details like your web/blog URLs at the "About" page of Google+. Or another way to fix this problem is to post a comment at the comment box of the blog you visited and joined, so that by clicking on your name at the comment they will reach your page. 

Some bloggers just press the followers button (Join this site) and join in and leave the place. Here are some screen shots (which are self explanatory) where I could not reach their pages to join in or to comment at their posts. So please note these points while joining in a new blog page.

Also please make it a point to say a word of thanks to the person who joined in your blog by visiting their pages and if like join in their page as a follower, if don't like their page that too say it politely,  this way you can increase your traffic flow to your pages.
