Indian Stand up Comedy: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who’s the Funniest of Them All?
Comedy has played a significant role in the world of Indian cinema. It is hard to imagine the 90s without stars like Jaspal Bhatti, Johnny Lever and others gracing major blockbusters. Back then, movies were scripted for the comedic value, for the most part. However, despite the success of these stars, stand-up comedy has not had much luck making headway into the Indian limelight.
The general perception has been that the Indian society is conservative, and they would find it hard to consume politically incorrect, no holds bar and edgy humor. The Great Indian Laughter Challenge is helping turn this around. The show is India’s mainstream introduction to stand up comedy that is proving that there is plenty of talent out there. It also brought popularity to the idea of running stand up comedy at festivals, events and pubs. The show’s longevity shows that India’s comedy industry has come a long way, with a new generation of comedians redefining what it means to be funny.
Some of the best stand up comedians in India are listed in this post.

THE HIPPOCRATIC OATH FOR BLOGGERS
THE HIPPOCRATIC OATH FOR BLOGGERS
![]() |
Hi All,
My fellow bloggers at Philipscom.
I am happy to be here again with a special note/post I found
today on the pages of the famous Indian
blogger Harleena Singh. She is also
known as the Comment Queen in the blogging Industry around the world. Yes, her pages AhaNOW and the recently
created blogging community ABC will talk more about this wonderful woman blogger. Recently she created yet another page called Harleenasingh.com
wherein she started her first blog post with a wonderful post which no one ever
thought of or posted!
Yes, the one I am talking about the very basics a blogger
should follow or take note of before starting a blog! She coined a set of Oaths based on the modern medical Hippocratic Oath. She very well put that in order to take oath.
I am sure this will be a wonderful step and a must oath to
take!
If follow it diligently I am sure one can be a successful
and honored blogger in the great ocean of blogging.
Thank you Harleena for coining this oath in step with the famous
medical oath.
I really appreciate you for doing this, that too in the appropriate time! Along with the opening
of your new venture.
I wish you this new venture a great success!
And I pray that, God may give you the necessary wisdom
to follow these steps and take the new page to the higher level!
Wish you all the best.
I am so glad to re-blog the post on my page with your kind permission.
Thank you Harleena.
Keep Going!
Keep Sharing!

THE HIPPOCRATIC OATH FOR BLOGGERS
COINED BY THE WELL KNOWN BLOGGER
HARLEENA SINGH
Therefore, I swear that I will observe and keep this
underwritten oath, to the utmost of my power and judgment.
I will respect the wisdom of others I learn from and gladly share such
knowledge with those who are to follow.
I will help the newbie and other bloggers in whichever way possible. It
would be genuinely for their benefit, avoiding any discrimination and
dishonesty.
I will remember that blogging is more than writing online updated
journals. It is a means of spreading values, enabling empowerment, providing
knowledge, and expression of freedom.
I will never misuse my influence and power of blogging to cause harm to
others in anyway. I understand that with great power comes greater
responsibility, and I’ll prove myself worthy.
I will not abuse blogging as a means to cheat and mislead people for my
selfish motives of earning money. I’ll always disclose and reveal if I stand to
benefit in my blog posts.
I will be honest and humble to admit my mistakes and correct them. I’ll
never intentionally create content with false information and will always
include disclaimers, wherever necessary.
I will observe transparency in my blogging ways and be truthful in all
my blogging efforts. I’ll give due credit where required and discourage others
from cheating or indulging in malpractice.
I will remember that I remain a member of the society and have special
obligations to my fellow bloggers. Whatever I do, I’ll always uphold the values
of humanity and the esteem of bloggers, and never fall for evil temptations.
If I faithfully observe this oath, may I prosper in my
profession and live a life being respected and remembered with affection
thereafter.
May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of
my calling and may I long experience the joy of blogging for those who seek my
help.
