E is For Easter: The Pagan Origin of Easter

Arlee Bird’s A to Z Challenge just passed 4 days and today is the day for the letter “E”

Again a small change in my earlier decision on my themes for the A to Z.

imagesFor the E day I selected the word Easter, a more popular word in the Christendom as well as the whole world.

EASTER: The So Called Resurrection Day Of Lord Jesus Christ is celebrated by millions of Christians around the world yesterday (5th April).

Here is a serious and noteworthy note, I received on my mobile through Whatsapp on the same day. And I think it is appropriate to post it here for the benefit of my fellow Christians to know what exactly this day called ‘Easter’ and its connected activities, I am sure some of my friends get offended by this post, but sad to say that always the truth has its own bitter side. So I took an advance bail if it gets offended by someone who read this:..

Politics is a dirty business.  How often have you heard those word?

But government service can be as much a ministry as serving in the local church.  Paul said those who serve in positions of authority are “God’s minister to you for good” (Romans 13:4).  The Mayor of the town is as much God’s appointee as the pastor of the church.

50 States of Pray. My Take....A Prayer From India

Picture Sourc Mark Koopmans

My friend, Mark Koopmans, has come up with this wonderful idea of a blog hop.  50 States of Pray, where on Christmas Eve hopefully people from each of the states will share our prayers, hopes, dreams, disappointments and whatever else for 2013 and onto 2014, all in about 100 words. Now, that’s indeed a great challenge!

Mark Koopman’s new blog hop “50 State of Pray” is an encouraging and a timely one.  PRAYER is an essential part of a Christian believer. Yes, its a vital one in a believer's life.  I just joined in the bloghop, and here is my post for the day.
PRAYER THE NEED OF THE HOUR.

Though I am from the other side of the nation (US), Mark allowed it to the other nation bloggers too! Lo! I am here with my take.   I am from India.(IND)

As the Apostle Paul said in Philippians Let me repeat it: "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand....   Also Paul says in 1 Thessalonians:  "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing."
Yes, it’s not a one-time affair, instead it should be a continuous process in a Christian believer's  life.

But sad to say we all quite often pray for our selfish interests, but actually it should be the other way round.  We need to pray for the needs and welfare of others.  Especially if you are a real follower of Christ, you need to pray for the salvation of the unsaved ones.  This is what the Bible says too.

Though I do remember these in my personal prayers here in this post I want to emphasis the same thing:

Here is my take:
Lord, I give all glory and honor to You for giving us yet another year to live.
I pray for my nation as well other nations and its leaders for a smooth administration.
I pray for the poor and needy especially the one who are yet to know the Lord as their Savior.
I pray for the peace among the nations, especially for the peace of Jerusalem.

And Lord I pray for all the people who come across in my life especially in online and also my offline fellow brethren.  God Bless Them All. Thank you Lord. Amen.

WISH YOU ALL A BLESSED DAY!!!

Who's your Hero - Blogfest

Last week when I received the notification mail from one of my friends about J L Campbell's new blogfest initiative "Who is your Hero?”.  Without thinking twice I just jumped in and registered my name for the fest.

The day has come to post the write-up and I was bit confused about it, what should I write and about whom should I write! and hey, who is my hero?

No need to think twice I said it in my mind:

He is none other than My
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
No doubt He alone is my Hero in my life.
Yes, I cannot place no one else in that place. He alone is my Hero.

Of course, here the point is slightly different, and focus is on an earthly personality who inspired or encouraged me.

My Parents:Late Mr, P T Varghese &Saramma Varghese

At ones my beloved parents  memory came to my mind, yes, I can very well place them in that seat. Yes, they are my earthly heroes.  Their hard work, enthusiasm, love towards fellow beings especially towards the poor and the fellow believers are great lessons to us (7 children).

Especially my mother inspired and encouraged me a lot, she was indeed a real hero to me. Yes, she left behind an exemplary life to follow. I have posted a memoir of my mother elsewhere in this blog few years back.

You can read that along here at this link SARAMMA VARGHESE

Their sweet memories are still lingering in my mind.
